Privacy in Kotomi

The short version: this game does not collect anything about you. There are no accounts, no adverts, no tracking, and nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. Your game is saved on your own device and stays there.

What we collect

Nothing. We do not ask for your name, your email address, your age, your location or your phone number, and there is no way to give them to us.

What is stored, and where

The game saves your progress on the device you play on, using ordinary browser storage. That save holds only the things you would expect:

which pets have visited you and how often
the names you have given your pets
your Silver Paws and Golden Paws
which toys, foods and places you own, and where you put things
the name you gave your yard, if you changed it

That save never leaves your device. We cannot see it, and neither can anyone else. If you delete the app, or clear your browser data, the save goes with it and cannot be recovered by us.

Adverts and tracking

There are none, and there never will be. No advertising, no analytics, no tracking pixels, no third party software development kits, no cookies used to follow you. This is a deliberate design decision and not a temporary state.

Children

The game is made to be safe for children. Because we collect nothing, there is nothing about a child for us to hold, share or sell. There is no chat, no messaging, no free typing that other people can see, and no way for a stranger to contact a player.

The internet connection

The game works offline once it has loaded. It contacts the internet only to download its own pictures and music from where the game is hosted, and to check whether a music file exists before offering the sound button. No information about you is included in those requests beyond what any web browser sends to fetch a file.

Purchases

If purchases are added in the future they will be handled entirely by the app store, which has its own privacy policy. We would never see or store your payment details.

Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to show you, correct or delete. If you want your save gone, delete the app or clear the site data in your browser, and it is gone immediately and completely.

Changes to this policy

If the game ever changes in a way that affects this, we will update this page and change the date at the top before the change reaches players.
